Chapter 7 is often referred to as "liquidation" or "straight bankruptcy." Your income and the amount of equity you have in your property are two factors that are considered when deciding whether Chapter 7 is an option for you.

 

If your household income (your income and your spouse's income if you are married) is more than the figures in this table, you may not be eligible for Chapter 7.

3 People: $61,959

4 People: $71,554

If there are more than 4 people in your household, add $6,900 for each additional person.

 

You will be scheduled to attend your 341 Meeting of Creditors approximately one month after your case is filed.  You must bring your photo ID and Social Security card to this meeting. Your actual meeting will last only 10 minutes or so, but it may be 2-3 hours before your case is called. Please do not bring your cell phone into the courthouse.

Which Division do you live in?

The Savannah Division includes Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties.

The Statesboro Division includes Bulloch, Candler, Emanuel, Evans, Jenkins, Screven, Tattnall, and Toombs Counties.
